Twenix Salary Guide
For English teachers, your pay is based on your country of residence and reflects your local cost of living & market rates.

UK/EU – 12-14 euros per hour
USA – 13-15 USD per hour

The written application includes some basic personal information and a multiple-choice questionnaire on your teaching methods.
Step 2: Wait for an e-mail reply from Twenix about your application. If your application isn’t accepted right away, it will be kept on file for when hiring opens again in the future.
Step 3: If your written application is accepted, you’ll receive an email with instructions for the video tasks and your initial pay rate.
There are 2 video tasks to complete as part of the application process. You’ll demonstrate your conversational and active listening skills in these tasks.
Step 4: If your video application is successful, you’ll need to complete a short onboarding course, and then you are ready to teach!
My Experience on Twenix
Applying to Twenix
The written portion of the application was quick, but I definitely recommend having your CV and proof of residency document ready to go in PDF format. For the multiple-choice questions, don’t overthink them. Just select what you think is best.
For the video tasks, I received a link to a slide presentation with instructions for completing them. You’ll want to read the instructions carefully and check out ALL of the links if you’d like your video tasks to be accepted.
My Tips for Completing the Video Tasks
The time limits for each task are very short! Just 60 seconds for task one and 2 minutes for task two.
- Take some notes on what you’d like to say, ensuring that you’ve covered everything required for each task. DON’T write out a script – you want to sound natural.
- Since you need to pretend that you are teaching a student, leave some natural pauses to “listen” to them, but keep them brief, or you’ll run out of time.
- Practice each task several times and use Zoom to record the tasks. You can do this with the free version and save the file to your computer. Don’t forget to rewatch your video to check the sound and lighting.
- Stay within the time limit. This shows that you can understand and follow instructions.
Teaching on Twenix
I’ve been teaching on Twenix for the past two weeks, and this is what it’s been like so far.
I’ve taught both video and audio classes, both regular course lessons and Checkpoint lessons. Checkpoint lessons come at the end of a 6-lesson course and allow students to put into practice what they’ve learned during the course. Depending on the student’s level, there might be several short tasks or one longer speaking task. I thought they were helpful for students to review the course material and practice, but it was challenging as a teacher since I hadn’t taught their 5 previous lessons.
While the onboarding training was really helpful to see how a class is run, I still felt a bit overwhelmed during my first class on the platform since I was trying to interact with the student, give corrections, manage the time, and evaluate them all within 26 minutes. I will say that the more classes I taught, the more comfortable I felt.
I think it would be helpful to get access to the teaching platform without a student first, to test it out and see where everything is. That being said, I found the Twenix platform easy to navigate. I like that you can log into the platform after a student has booked a class with you to learn about the student and see the lesson content.
The students were all really pleasant, and you could tell that they were motivated and wanted to be there. Twenix emphasizes keeping the small talk to a minimum so that students can focus on the content. I think this is really helpful for language learning, but it can make it difficult to develop rapport with the students, especially since you don’t teach them each week. I wouldn’t say it’s a bad thing; it’s just a difference from other online teaching platforms.
In terms of negatives, the pay rate for English teachers isn’t straightforward since it’s calculated based on your country of residence. It’s a bit difficult to know exactly how much you’ll earn until you go through the hiring process and get your pay offer.
I also struggled with the class timing. You’re meant to be evaluating your students while teaching, but I found it difficult to focus on what they were saying while writing my evaluation. It’s easier to save this step for the 4 minutes after the class finished, but some students arrived late, so I was essentially late to my next lesson. I’m sure this becomes easier the more you teach on the platform.
